ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis senior Stacy Beaman converted a penalty kick to give the Lewis University women's soccer team a 1-1 tie with Bellarmine October 19. Bellarmine's Allison Truttmann scored the game's first goal at 53:12. Truttmann sent a big hooking shot from the left corner of the goal box over the outstretched arms of Lewis goalkeeper Courtney Hutt for the Knights' (10-3-5, 3-3-3 Great Lakes Valley Conference) 1-0 lead. A hand ball in the box gave Lewis an opportunity to even the score at the 64:06 mark. Beaman capitalized with a low, hard shot to the left corner of the net. The goal was her fourth of the season and 14th of her career. Hutt registered seven saves in a solid netminding effort. Lewis (4-11-2, 1-5-2 GLVC) remains in ninth place in the GLVC. With two games remaining, the Flyers are hoping to earn a berth in the GLVC tournament; the top eight teams in the league qualify for the postseason tournament. |
