EVANSVILLE, Ind. - For the second straight year, the Lewis women's soccer team scored an early goal against Southern Indiana but couldn't let the lead stand. Lewis (2-7-0, 0-2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference) cracked the scoreboard at 20:27 with Caroline Kenny's fourth goal of the season. Kenny fired from 10 yards out following an assist from Stacy Beaman and Michelle Sternbauer. The Flyers held the 1-0 lead through halftime, but USI (4-3-0, 1-1-0 GLVC) tied the game at 1-all with an unassisted goal from Aisha Earl-Smith at 57:36. Alisann Shetler scored the golden goal off of a corner kick from Kara Marcum three minutes and forty seconds (103:40) into the second overtime. The Flyers will look to end a five-game losing streak when they host a non-conference match with Saint Xavier September 24 at 4 p.m. |
