ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Former Conference USA Freshman of the Year Kim Jedlo powered the St. Francis women's soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Lewis September 2. Jedlo scored 10 goals with two assists as a freshman at the University of Cincinnati two years ago. She exhibited her skill as a scorer with a hat trick against the Flyers(1-2-0). Jedlo put the Saints (2-1-0) on top 1-0 three minutes and 30 seconds into the game. She then added an unassisted goal six minutes later to give St. Francis a 2-0 lead it would not relinquish. Lewis' Jenna Volpi brought the Flyers within one when she scored an unassisted goal at 23:48, but that would be the closest the team would draw. Stevie Michel recorded her second assist of the game when she hooked up with Jedlo at 56:16 to allow Jedlo to complete her hat trick. Jennifer Lutz completed the scoring with an unassisted goal at 62:30. Courtney Hutt and Lindsay Frederick split time in goal and recorded three saves each for the Flyers. Lewis continues its string of five home games to open the season as the team hosts Concordia (Minn.) and Northwood (Mich.) this weekend. The Flyers play Concordia at noon on Friday, Sept. 6 and then face Northwood at noon on Saturday, Sept. 7. |
