Game 2 Box Score

ROMEOVILLE - David Scheibe shut down Indianapolis on seven hits to lead the Lewis University baseball team to a 3-2 win Wednesday in game one of a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader.

In game two, Indianapolis scored three runs in the eighth inning and posted a 7-6 win.

Scheibe (1-2) allowed just one earned run, did not walk a batter and struck out two. He shut out Indianapolis over the last five innings of the 7-inning contest after the Greyhounds scored single runs in the first and second.

The Flyers scored in the third when Andy Radak singled, moved to second on Billy Duffy's sacrifice and scored with two outs on a throwing error. In the fourth, Radak drove in Victor Naut, who had singled, with a sacrifice fly to make it 2-2.

Lewis plated the winning run in the fifth. Kevin Tyrrell led off with a single, moved to second on Brandon Niewinski's sacrifice, went to third on a ground ball and scored on Naut's single.

Lewis pounded out a season-high 17 hits in the nightcap, led by Radak's 4-for-5 effort and Niewinski's 4-for-6 performance. Duffy, Tyrrell and Phil Marchinski collected two hits apiece.

Tyrrell's two-run double and Marchinski's RBI single in the second inning, both with two outs, gave Lewis (6-28, 4-18) a 3-0 lead. The Flyers made it 4-0 in the third when Mike Smith's leadoff triple was followed by Radak's RBI single.

After Indianapolis (14-22, 7-15) scored twice in the fourth, Lewis answered with a run in the fifth on Duffy's bad-hop single that scored Radak. The Greyhounds scored twice more in the sixth, while Lewis posted its final run in the seventh on Niewinski's RBI single.

The Flyers travel to GLVC rival Southern Indiana for a four-game weekend series.
